Face-to-Face Meeting with UniBw M at LIST

On 20-21 November, LIST team had the pleasure of welcoming Universität der Bundeswehr München (UniBw M) team for a two-day face-to-face meeting hosted by LIST.

Day 1 was dedicated to a productive discussion on the cost-benefit analysis led by UniBw M team. Together, we explored the costs and benefits of conventional fertilization methods compared to the innovative system developed within the LIFE project — a system based on the transformation of manure into liquid fertilizers and the use of digital technologies for efficient and automated hydroponic farm management.

We also highlighted the crucial role of stakeholders and consumers in supporting the acceptance and adoption of the system. Potential partners and actors to engage with — both within and beyond Luxembourg — were identified to strengthen collaboration throughout the project’s duration.

Additionally, UCD team presented the latest findings from the manure characterization study, joining the discussion remotely.

On Day 2, our guest visited the hydroponic farm and the manure transformation site operated by Fësch Haff S.à.r.l.

As we prepare for the next testing season to evaluate the performance of manure-based liquid fertilizers on different crops, the consortium continues to advance on several fronts — including the design of the Pilot, the development of the Digital Twin, the characterization of various manure types, the definition of sanitary tests for water resources, and the preparation of surveys with focus groups.
